Kelly Horan, MPH

Title: Administrative Manager of Research

  • Kelly Horan is the Program Manager at MGH CHOIR (formerly known as IBHCRP). She provides oversight to the day-to-day operations of the program including finance, project management, and research administration. Before joining CHOIR in July of 2021, Kelly served as the Program Manager for the Center for Healthcare Research in Pediatrics and the Precision Medicine Translational Research Center in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Harvard Medical School. Kelly also worked previously as a Senior Project Manager in the Department of Population Medicine and a Project Manager at Boston Children’s Hospital and Tufts University School of Medicine.


Lina Hussein

Title: Project Manager

  • Lina Hussein is an Operational Project Manager at MGH CHOIR. She supports the clinical research at CHOIR at operational and administrative levels. Before joining CHOIR in May 2023, Lina served as an Administrative Coordinator at the Hospital Medicine Unit / Department of General Internal Medicine, MGH from July 2018 till April 2023. She also worked as a Project Consultant at JSI, Boston in 2017. Lina also worked as a Research Assistant at both the Heller School for Social Policy and Management and Simmons College from 2016 to 2017. Before she moved to the USA in 2015, Lina worked in the Ministry of Health in Syria from 1992 till 2015, where she served as the Deputy Director of Planning and International Cooperation between 2009 and 2015.


Barrett Laird, MPH

Title: Project Manager

  • Barrett Laird is a Research Project Manager at CHOIR. She manages the Mass-ENVISION Resource Center for Minority Aging (RCMAR) Research and Education Component and the Bridging the Science-to-Service Gap: Prevention, Optimization and Living Well with Persistent or Serious Illness T32 Fellowship Program. Her other responsibilities include IRB management for CHOIR's studies, support for CHOIR’s Research Core and Training and Education Core, and the clinical research coordinator training curriculum. Barrett graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tufts University with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Quantitative Economics and a minor in Math and earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tufts University School of Medicine with a concentration in Health Services Management and Policy. Prior to CHOIR, Barrett worked at MGH as a Clinical Research Coordinator for Dr. Lara Traeger in the Health Promotion and Resiliency Intervention Research (HPRIR) Program and the Cancer Outcomes Research and Education (CORE) Program. In her free time, Barrett enjoys yoga, playing squash, and walking on the Charles River Esplanade.


Elizabeth Allen, mS, MPH

Title: Data Analyst

  • Elizabeth Allen is a Data Analyst at CHOIR. She supports the research efforts of the center in all aspects of data management, including collecting, organizing, analyzing, disseminating, and visualizing data. Elizabeth earned her Master of Science (MS) in Nutrition Epidemiology and Data Science from the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, as well as her Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tufts University School of Medicine, with a concentration in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Before graduate school and prior to joining CHOIR, Elizabeth worked as a clinical research coordinator in orthopedic trauma at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her research interests lie in the impact of nutrition, physical activity, and other modifiable life factors on cancer development and the quality of life of cancer survivors. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys reading, crafting, playing the guitar, and spending time with family.
